Carlo Balzaretti
Carlo Balzaretti, a renowned Italian pianist, composer, and educator, formerly served as the Director of the Conservatorio statale di musica di Brescia "Luca Marenzio" and the Conservatorio statale di musica di Como "Giuseppe Verdi". He currently holds the position of Director at the Conservatorio statale di musica di Gallarate (VA) “Giacomo Puccini” and serves as a visiting professor in the Piano Department of the Conservatorio statale di musica di Milano "Giuseppe Verdi".
He has won numerous awards in international competitions. In 1982, he won first prize at the inaugural "Maria Canals" competition in Barcelona. In 1986, representing his country, he participated in the "European Young Musicians" competition in Copenhagen and took first place. In 1989 and 1990, he performed in the "Euroconcert" series organized by the European Community and broadcast live by the Italian national television network RAI.
Professor Balzaretti's performances have spanned the globe, including appearances at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino festival; the 2004 Mozart International Festival; the "Concerti del Tempietto" series in Rome; the "Pro Musiciens" series in Geneva, Switzerland; the Beijing International Piano Festival; the "Milano Musica" festival; the National Music Halls in Brussels and Istanbul; the National Concert Hall in Taipei in 2001 and 2013; London's Wigmore Hall in 2006; and the Umberto Giordano Festival in 2009 and 2010, among others.
He has conducted masterclasses and performed concerts in Seoul, South Korea; Tokyo, Japan; the China Conservatory of Music; the Central Conservatory of Music; the Graduate Institute of Performing Arts at National Taiwan Normal University; the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou; and East China Normal University in Shanghai.
